Credit Union has three major projects in the works to
enhance, expand branch banking

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 12, 2022 – Community First Credit Union, one of Florida’s largest credit unions serving anyone who lives or works on the First Coast, announces it has closed on a deal to purchase a lot for a new expansion branch at the intersection of Yellow Bluff and New Berlin Roads. The location is adjacent to the newly opened Publix at Northpoint Village. Community First purchased the 1.04 acre lot on July 11, 2022.

Community First is planning an expansion of its branch network. Construction is scheduled to start in 2022 on a new, freestanding branch with a drive thru. The branch, the financial institution’s 21st, will be Community First’s new branch design with 3,300 square feet featuring an open floorplan, upgraded digital technologies and a historical mural depicting the history of Cedar Point and the Northside. The new branch serves to fill a gap in the availability of ATMs and financial institutions in this growing area.

“Our new North Jacksonville location is strategically located to serve our members who are both residents and who also may commute via this corridor,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First. “Northpoint, Cedar Point and Oceanway have seen tremendous growth and we’re looking forward to being part of the neighborhood.”

The new branch location is part of the credit union’s Branch Transformation Project, the credit union’s comprehensive branch upgrade which seeks to improve member service by configuring the offices to create a more modern retail experience. The new branch interiors feature several upgrades including an open floor plan, a warm, welcoming environment and advanced digital technologies.

Community First is undertaking its largest investment in its branch network at one time. The credit union has three branch projects underway. Community First is constructing this new, freestanding branch at Northpoint at Yellow Bluff and New Berlin Roads. It is also constructing a new, freestanding branch at Boulevard Crossing (Beach and University Boulevards) which will include connected outparcel retail in the micro-development. The credit union is also relocating its Mandarin Branch to a retail location at Mandarin Station which is currently being renovated.

Community First Credit Union of Florida is a state-chartered credit union based in Jacksonville serving anyone who lives or works on the First Coast.
